I have recently been away for a well-earned break by the seaside. It has been a hectic year full of change, technical challenges and new developments. On my return I wanted to review the previous 12 months at Working Data and check out some basic management reporting.
Using our in-house Custom Access Database I pulled up the report showing the source of the last 12 months’ clients. 47% of our invoicing total came from repeat business with our existing clients.
The remaining 53% of new clients came from four different sources. The breakdown is below, showing the percentage for each source of new business.
As I was looking over these figures it struck me that our database was able to give me very powerful information. It could show me in seconds which were our main sources of new clients. It allows us to identify which areas need to be improved (e.g. Twitter) and which are closer to the return we are looking for (e.g. Email Subscriber).
